About the Community of Oakdale

The city mixes its small-town qualities (mature neighborhoods and established retail and service areas) with the new housing being developed throughout Oakdale. School District 622 was a pioneer in requiring minimum competency levels in arithmetic, reading and writing prior to the passage of the Assurance of Mastery Law. A major influence in the community is 3M, whose international headquarters is in nearby Maplewood. Oakdale Crossing Business Park and Granada Business Park offer industrial office space. Bergen Plaza, featuring Rainbow Foods and Kmart, are easily accessible from Interstate 694. Oakdale residents enjoy more than 400 acres of parkland and recreational facilities, including a new golf course, nature center and Tanners Lake, which offers both swimming and fishing.
