About the Community of Richfield
Richfield is considered a gem among Twin City suburbs as to location, good taste, and livability. It is situated between the cities of Edina to the West, Minneapolis on the north, Bloomington on the south and International Airport on the east. Residents and visitors are afforded speedy access to most metro points of interest and activity. The city covers seven square miles, encompassing 460 acres of parkland in 25 locations, including the pristine and secluded Wood Lake Nature Interpretive Center located just southeast of the intersection of Interstate 35W and 66th Street. The convenience of Richfield's location is demonstrated not only in the proximity to the airport, but also in the confluence of Interstate 35W and 494 with Crosstown 62, affording swift accessibility in all directions. Education is a prime facet of this jewel among communities. The U.S. Department of Education identified both Richfield High School and the private Academy of Holy Angels as a "School of Excellence." Mr. Calvary Lutheran School, Richfield Intermediate and Middle School, Centennial Elementary, Sheridan Hills Elementary and Blessed Trinity Catholic School (with 2 campuses) serve K-8. The city also has a popular Community Education Center. Richfield is the site of the corporate headquarters of Best Buy Company, incorporating a 1.6 million square foot complex at Interstate 494 and Penn Avenue.
