About the Community of St. Anthony

Welcome to the City of St. Anthony. We are located in both Ramsey and Hennepin Counties. The City is considered a "first-ring" suburb of Minneapolis and as such is part of the metropolitan area. It is five miles northeast of downtown Minneapolis and eight miles northwest of downtown St. Paul. The St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses of the University of Minnesota are a 10 -15 minute drive from St. Anthony. The City is easily accessible via I-35W, County Road D, Highway 88, Highway 280, I-94, Silver Lake Road and I-694 and Highway 10 via Silver Lake Road.
The City is approximately 3 square miles and the Public Works Department maintains 25 miles of City streets. Communities that border St. Anthony include Northeast Minneapolis to the south, Roseville to the east, Columbia Heights to the northwest and New Brighton to the northeast. Within the boundaries of St. Anthony Village exist several points of interest. These include the Francis A. Gross Public Golf Course; Silver Lake, one of the most picturesque small lakes in the Metro area; its own K - 12 school district, ISD 282; and several beautifully maintained parks that accommodate many recreational activities. Because of its location and accessibility, St. Anthony is a popular community in which to live and work.
Currently the City of St. Anthony, with almost 100% of its approximately 1600 acres utilized and unavailable for development, is considered to be a fully developed community. The residents of St. Anthony value their quality of life and actively pursue projects that maintain the feeling of being a "village". The City is committed to rehabilitating any area that becomes outdated or blighted. Land use and development in the Community are governed by the City's Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance as interpreted by the Planning Commission and City Council.
Despite of its unique location, being conveniently situated to the downtown areas of Minneapolis and St. Paul, the Village has been able to retain all of the advantages of a smaller community.
